Despite having got my shit together, there’s still the small matter of getting through the next 24hrs.

I got here late last night, thanks to ridiculous traffic. That put me on edge, but I pitched tent, drank beer and slept well.
Today I’ve been sorting out Stuff for my drop bags. A change of kit in both of them, but also food and bags of drink powder. Regarding the latter, I’m trying not to fixate on it too much. If I left them behind, I’d manage. They’re a useful luxury and I might be grateful for spare resources mid-ride, but they’re not essential. I don’t need to mentally account for every bar or pouch. And just how many bags of drink powder do I really need? They’re heavy and bulky. Is it really that important to have enough powder for the whole ride?
A change of clothes is essential mid-ride. Clean kit lifts the spirits and prevents the arse from festering. But which jersey in which bag? And with Storm Floris looming, should I pack extra kit in the Moffat bag?
The lesson I need to learn, with less than a day to go, is to relax and not try too hard to account for every possible circumstance and hence turn my Carradice and drop bags into lead anchors.
